Iran’s Mighan wetland hosting thousands of migratory birds

Over 6,000 migratory birds have migrated to the Mighan wetland in the central Iranian province of Markazi.

More than 6,000 migratory birds have migrated to spend the winter in the Mighan wetland in the central Iranian province of Markazi.

As one of the 105 bird migration destinations in the world, the Mighan wetland annually hosts up to 20,000 migratory birds of 46 species, including cranes, ducks, flamingos, and geese.

With the arrival of autumn, the birds annually migrate from the north to the southern and tropical regions of Iran.

Hosting over 600 species of birds, Iran is said to have the higher number of bird species in the whole of Europe.

The provinces of Mazandaran and Golestan are the first provinces with the highest number of migratory birds for having sufficient seasonal availability of resources.
